The Diploma in Medical Assistant provides students with a wealth of knowledge in patient
care allowingthem to seek a career as Assistant Medical Officers in public hospitals.
Students will leverage on the University’s experience and facilities to equip themselves with knowledge on subjects such as anatomy, physiology, bioscience, microbiology,
parasitology, emergency medicine, surgical, public health and more.
Assistant MedicalOfficers will work alongside physicians in providing quality patientcareand are integral members of today’s healthcareteams. This programmeis recognized by the Medical AssistantBoard, Ministry of Health Malaysia.
All applicants, except those with a degree qualification in art or humanities, must have passed and attained a minimum of the following:
Requirement Pass Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or its equivalent with a minimum of 5 (five) credits in the following subjects:
Two (2) credits in either Science or Mathematics subject (Biology / Chemistry / General Science / Applied Sciences / Mathematics / Additional Mathematics) preference is given to students who obtain 1 credit in both categories (Science & Mathematic) and;
Two (2) credits from any other subjects
Pass in English (preference to be given to those with credit in English); OR
GCE O Level or equivalent with 5 (five) credits in the following subjects:
Two (2) credits from Science or Mathematics subject (Biology/Physics/Chemistry/General Science);
Three (3) from any other subjects; and
Pass in English.
Malaysian citizens are required to pass in Bahasa Malaysia at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia level for the purpose of registration with
Medical Assistant Board(MAB); AND Students shall be certified medically fit by a registered medical practitioner recognized by the recruiting institution and free from:
Physical and sensory disability
Infectious diseases (HIV-AIDS, Hepatitis B and C, etc.)
Pass Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with a minimum Grade B in 3 subjects;
Mathematics / Add Mathematics
Biology and Chemistry
English Proficiency for Foreign Students: TOEFL score of 550 or IELTS score of 5.5 or equivalent
Students who graduate from this course will be eligible to obtain employment as Medical Assistants or Assistant Medical Officers (AMO) in Public Hospitals and are recognized by the Medical Assistant Board, Ministry of Health Malaysia. Further education pathways available to students include Bachelor degrees in Pre Hospital Care, Emergency Medicine, Forensic Science, Sport Medicine, Dietician, Biomedical, Social Science and Occupational Safety and Health.
