What will you learn?
The Diploma in Product Design is a programme that develops the students' capability in three-dimensional design. We are surrounded by products - from the watch on your wrist, the furniture in your house, to the car you drive. Product design, also known as industrial design, is a subject that allows students to conceptualize and design new consumer products and electronic consumer goods such as hand phones, audio and multimedia products. Product Design is dominated by designers who are able to generate new, innovative and creative ideas that can successfully compete internationally.
A product designer gives form and function to a product. He gives a product an identity that can communicate to the customer and provide a specific function. Students will gain an understanding of form and function, colour, market research and consumer demand, new technology as well as material and cultural studies. Students are exposed to a wide range of international projects ranging from electronic consumer products, furniture and lighting, to toy design and packaging. Students will learn to execute projects in a professional manner from presentation sketches, research reports, visuals, computer-generated 3D models and actual prototypes.

Academic Requirement for admission in University Malaysia
Diploma & Bachelor Programs
- Candidates in High school, secondary or A-level must hold min. CGPA of 2 out of 4 or must be passed.
- For studying engineering pass marks in Math, Chemistry and physics in high school.
Master Programs
- Bachelor's degree with min. CGPA of 2.75 out of 4 or equivalent in a relevant field of study.
- Any Bachelor's degree with CGPA of 2 to 2.5 out of 4 in a relevant field can be accepted subject to a minimum 2 years of working experience in a related field.
PhD programs
- A Master's degree with min. CGPA of 2.75 out of 4 or equivalent in a relevant field of study.
- Any Master's degree with minimum CGPA of 2 to 2.5 out of 4 in a relevant field can be accepted subject to a minimum 2 years of working experience in a related field.
English language requirement for admission in University Malaysia: It is mandatory for every international student to take English tests like TOFEL (Test of English as a Foreign Language or IELTS (International English language Testing System) with the minimum required score for respective programs.
