What will you learn?

The Bachelor of Optometry (Hons) programme provides a career path in optometry profession that leads to the well-trained optometrist. The programme is specifically designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to allow necessary requirements to practice in all areas of optometry. The programme is approved by Malaysia Optical Council (MOC) and it provides avenues for students to have proper training in managing various eye conditions and gain knowledge of the vision care business in a wider perspective. As registered practitioners, graduates of Bachelor of Optometry should be able to independently examine, diagnose and manage the patient’s visual problems.

Eligibility

(i) Pass SPM or its equivalent with minimum 3 credits, including 2 credits in the following subjects:

  • Biology
  • Physics
  • Mathematics
  • Chemistry
    and at least pass in English Langauge

 

AND


(ii) Pass STPM in Science Stream with 2.50 CGPA;

OR


(iii) Pass The South Australian Matriculation (SAM) with average score of 14 (60% ATAR/TER) including 3 Science or Mathematic subjects;

OR


(iv) Pass Canadian Pre University Programme (CPU) with minimum 2.50 CGPA including 3 Science or Mathematic subjects;

OR


(v) Pass Indian Pre-University/HSC/SSC with 60% aggregate, including 3 Science or Mathematic subjects;

OR


(vi) Pass A Level in Science Stream with 2.50 CGPA, including 3 Science or Mathematic subjects;

OR


(vii) Pass Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT) with average score of 14 (60% ATAR/TER) including 3 Science or Mathematic subjects;

OR


(viii) Pass New South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) with average score of 14 (60% ATAR/TER) including 3 Science or Mathematic subjects;

OR


(ix) Pass Foundation in Science/ cience Biology/ Health Sciences from MSU/IPTA/IPTS with 2.50 CGPA, including 3 Science or Mathematic subjects;

OR


(x) Pass Science Stream Matriculation Programme with 2.50 CGPA;

OR


(xi) Diploma in Sciences field with at least 2.50 CGPA;

OR


(xii) Degree in Sciences field with 2.50 CGPA;

OR


(xiii) Pass Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with 2.50 CGPA or at grade B5 in Science subject and B6 for 2 other subjects;

OR


(xiv) Other equivalent qualification recognised by the Malaysian Government
